About this practice exam

The AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional exam tests a candidate’s advanced technical skills and experience in designing optimized AWS solutions that are based on the AWS Well-Architected Framework: design for organizational complexity, design for new solutions, continuously improve existing solutions, and accelerate workload migration and modernization. This practice exam prepares you for AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (SAP-C02) across Design Solutions for Organizational Complexity, Design for New Solutions, Continuous Improvement for Existing Solutions, and Accelerate Workload Migration and Modernization.

The exam emphasizes architecting network connectivity and hybrid DNS with Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC), AWS Direct Connect, AWS VPN, and Amazon Route 53 Resolver; prescribing security controls with AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), AWS IAM Identity Center, AWS Key Management Service (AWS KMS), and AWS Certificate Manager (ACM); designing multi-account environments with AWS Organizations and AWS Control Tower; meeting reliability and business continuity requirements with multi-AZ and multi-Region architectures; and selecting migration and modernization paths with AWS Application Migration Service, AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS), containers, and serverless services. It does not primarily assess frontend development for mobile apps, 12-factor app methodology, or in-depth knowledge of operating systems.

The official AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (SAP-C02) exam is 75 questions in 180 minutes. This practice exam follows the four official Solutions Architect – Professional domains and their published weights.

The certification validates understanding of:

  • Design Solutions for Organizational Complexity: network connectivity with Amazon VPC, AWS Direct Connect, AWS VPN, and Amazon Route 53 Resolver; security controls with IAM, AWS IAM Identity Center, AWS KMS, ACM, AWS CloudTrail, and AWS Security Hub; reliable architectures using recovery time objective (RTO), recovery point objective (RPO), and AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery; multi-account governance with AWS Organizations and AWS Control Tower; and cost visibility with AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and Spot Instances.
  • Design for New Solutions: deployment with AWS CloudFormation, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), and AWS Systems Manager; business continuity with Amazon Route 53 and multi-AZ or multi-Region backup and disaster recovery; security with AWS Shield, AWS WAF, Amazon GuardDuty, and AWS Security Hub; reliability with Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, Amazon ElastiCache, Amazon Simple Notification Service (Amazon SNS), Amazon Simple Queue Service (Amazon SQS), and AWS Step Functions; performance with purpose-built databases and elastic architectures; and cost optimization with storage tiering and AWS managed services.
  • Continuous Improvement for Existing Solutions: operational excellence with Amazon CloudWatch, CI/CD deployment strategies, and AWS Systems Manager; security improvements with AWS Config, AWS Secrets Manager, and least privilege; performance with AWS Global Accelerator, Amazon CloudFront, auto scaling, and instance fleets; reliability through data replication, load balancing, and removal of single points of failure; and cost optimizations with Spot Instances, Reserved Instances, AWS Savings Plans, and tagging for cost allocation.
  • Accelerate Workload Migration and Modernization: portfolio assessment with AWS Migration Hub and the seven common migration strategies (7 Rs); data, application, and database transfer with AWS DataSync, AWS Transfer Family, AWS Snow Family, AWS Application Migration Service, AWS DMS, and AWS Schema Conversion Tool (AWS SCT); connectivity and identity with AWS Direct Connect, AWS Site-to-Site VPN, and AWS IAM Identity Center; target architectures on Amazon EC2, Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS), Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS), AWS Fargate, Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, and Amazon DynamoDB; and modernization with AWS Lambda, Amazon Aurora Serverless, Amazon EventBridge, and AWS Step Functions.
